Software quality assurance (SQA) has become an indispensable dimension of software development, designed to guarantee that quality and productivity requirements are fulfilled. We put this special issue together to help people understand the increasing importance of SQA as an essential part of software projects, outline some new ideas and approaches to SQA, and report on some practical experiences.
